Celebration High School AFJROTC
If you’re looking to take advanced classes or graduate as soon as possible, while learning life skills and preparing yourself for life, AFJROTC is for you! Even if you don’t plan on joining the military!
What is AFJROTC? (Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps):
It is NOT a recruiting program for the military. There is no obligation to join the military.
Our mission is to “Build citizens of character, dedicated to serving the nation and community.”
-It is a program designed to help build citizens of character through discipline, hard work, responsibility, team work, and fitness (Mental, spiritual, physical, & social). We do this by following Air Force standards of conduct, dress and appearance, and physical fitness requirements. Do you want to be a leader, respected, well groomed, and physically fit? If so, this program is for you!
-Cadets learn everything from customs and courtesies, financial readiness, space exploration, aviation, survival skills, leadership, management and much more!
-Academic curriculum includes field trips to many places like: Kennedy Space Center, Military Bases, Warships, Special Operations obstacle courses, Air Shows, Museums, etc….
-The program is ran and operated by the cadets....for the cadets. Our cadets start out as a basic cadet, then as they earn promotions, they move up the chain of command until they are leading the program with their classmates. Our senior leadership mentors and trains the newer cadets. This simulates the work environment that mirrors society.
-We also have many extra-curricular after school teams/programs such as: Drill Team, Armed Drill Team, Exhibition Drill, Color Guard, Aviation Club/Drones, Robotics, J-Lab and our Commandos Elite Fitness Team. Each team competes across the state against the other JROTC programs from each military branch (Army, AF, Marines, Navy).
-2 years of JROTC gets you: Fine Arts, PE/Health, and AFJROTC elective credits. Just from this one class! So if you'd like to get ahead in high school, (dual enrollment) this is the fastest way to do it. You would also compete for several additional scholarship opportunities that the rest of the school does not…….such as the Flight Academy Program. If selected, you would be sent to a flight school on a $25,000 scholarship to obtain your private pilot's license.....free of charge!
-If you do join the military, you will automatically be promoted to E-3. (That’s approx. $500/month more pay!)
Bottom Line:
If you are a scholar or an athlete at Celebration High School, there is no better program to accelerate your growth to the next level. AFJROTC is the most impactful program at CHS. It is THE ONLY class that prepares you for real-life! Yes, there are sacrifices that you may have to make. You might need to cut your hair (if its too long). You will need to wear the uniform 1x per week. But these small sacrifices are worth the benefits you receive in return.
So what’s in it for you?
-Accelerated class schedule, fitness, leadership & management skills.
-Develop character and discipline.
-Explore team-building and leadership opportunities.
-Gain valuable life skills and experiences to prepare for post-graduation and “Life.”
-Best of all…..a family……a sense of belonging….it’s the easiest way to make friends as fast as possible and expand your network
AFJROTC Teams
Our after-school teams are the best in Central Florida. Most Cadets stay in JROTC because they enjoy the teams so much. Our teams meet after school each day M-Th.
Drill Team (Monday): Marching in sync with military discipline and grace. Teaches efficiency through movement, while maintaining grit and determination. Compete across Florida against other schools. We are the current 2023 & 2024 State Champions!
Exhibition Drill (Tuesday): Similar to a “Step” team. Marching to a beat while performing extravagant movements. The routine is completely made up by the Cadets. Last year we finished in the top 2 at every competition.
Robotics (Tuesday): Build robots to compete against other schools. Learn the basics of robotics, programming, using tools and creating working machines.
Commandos (Wednesday): Our elite fitness team that competes across Florida. We are currently the #1 team in Central Florida. We compete in fitness and sports competitions to include: flag football, kickball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, hand ball, dodgeball, running, push ups, situps, and more! In 2024 & 2025 we competed at the National Championships and finished 10th in the nation!
Color Guard (Thursday): Presenting the colors at events. (Flags and Rifles during the National Anthem) Teaches grace, professionalism, and confidence in public. Our Color Guards get to attend many high-profile events to include: Orlando Magic games, Disney celebrations, Veterans ceremonies and school events.
Aviation Club (Thursday): Learn the basics of Aviation and principles of flight. Fly drones, airplanes, build airplanes & rockets, learn about airport and aviation operations.
Armed Drill (As time permits): Advanced marching in sync with military discipline and grace using rifles. We also compete in Solo Rifle competitions where a Cadet spins and tosses a rifle while performing.
Joint Leadership Academic Bowl/J-LAB (Dates Vary): Cadets compete in academics (similar to Academic Bowl). There are 3 levels to the competition. Those teams that reach the 3rd level will travel to Washington D.C. to compete.
