The 2018 SACAC Extend the Dream Student Scholarship ten $1,000 scholarships -
application deadline is April 15.


Scholarship Criteria
 

  • Applicant must be a current high school senior graduating from a public, private, parochial high school or home school
  • located in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee or
  • the Caribbean.   Applicant must be accepted by and plan to attend an accredited, non-proprietary, technical,
  • community or four-year college in the fall following his/her graduation. 
  • Applicant must have at least a 2.75 grade point average for grades 9-12.
  • Applicant must have financial need. 
  • Applicant must demonstrate a commitment to community service, social justice issues and/or leadership qualities. 
  • Applicant must submit ACT and/or SAT scores. 

In order to be considered for this scholarship, a student must submit the application along with the following
supplemental information: 

  • high school transcript which includes coursework and grades for 9-12 as well as cumulative GPA; 
  • ACT/SAT score(s) – scores will be accepted from high school transcript or copy of student score report; 
  • Essay typed and double spaced (2 pages maximum) that includes the following: A brief biographical sketch; your desire
  • to attend college; future career aspirations; recent community service, social justice work and/or demonstrated leaders
  • hip ability; why you deserve to be a recipient of the SACAC Extend the Dream Scholarship;
  • One letter of recommendation (teacher/principal, employment supervisor, community service organization leader,
  • pastor); 
  • A copy of page 1 of Student Aid Report (SAR). This SAR is the report received from the U.S. Department of Education
  • after completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);

  • This is not an academic scholarship but we would like to know where you are going to school now and what your future academic plans are.

Pureland Supply Skilled Trade Scholarship - $1,000 - Due June 1, 2018


The $1000.00 Pureland Supply Scholarship is open for students who have been accepted to an accredited
community college, vocational college, technical school, or trade School.  Recipients are chosen on their ability to
describe how their chosen trade or field plays an important role in today’s world and how the student expects to
play a part in the future of their trade or field.

Application materials:

      A typed one-page essay about:

o   How your chosen trade or field is important in today’s society, and

o   How your chosen trade or field can change lives in a positive manner, and

o   How you expect to play a part in making positive changes in the future of your chosen trade or field

 

      High School transcript or GED

      One letter of recommendation from a non-family member

      A completed application (below)

      This is an annual scholarship that is available every year.  The currently deadline for Fall 2018
semester is June 1, 2018
. Payment will be made directly to the Vocational School or Community College.

The A&F Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered
in any accredited post secondary institution.

Application Procedure for 2018

 

To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on the topic below. The essay should be
between 500 and 1000 words. Your submissions must be sent to us by email at:

Describe your educational career and life goals. Explain your plan for achieving these goals. Include your degree/major,
why you selected it, and how this degree/major will help you achieve your goals.

Mattress Help Scholarship - $1,000 - Due September 25, 2018

Eligibility requirements

  • *Current high school (or home-schooled) seniors attending school in the United States or Canada
  • OR current college students already studying at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution
  • *You must be a U.S. citizen
  • *Anticipating completion of high-school diploma at time of application or already in possession of
  • high-school diploma/GED
  • *Planning to or currently pursuing a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution
  • *Carrying a minimum 3.00 GPA

To apply, please create a short video (no longer than 5 minutes) that answers the following:

  • What factors most negatively and positively affect your sleep?
  • Assess the quality of your own sleep health and discuss some ways that you can improve it.
  • Make your video creative and impactful both to yourself and others.
  • The most creative submission will win the scholarship each year.

Upload your video to YouTube, make sure it is titled “Mattress Help Scholarship Submission –
Your Name – Year” and include the link when you email: contact@mattresshelp.org
